Of Aches, Distance And Penitence
When you say
goodbye,
it’s an organic
example
of shrubs, roots
and pieces.
I’ll stay two sunsets,
perhaps three,
watching the moonlight
reflect on your eclectic lingerie.
Let the memories of us
dance in your head,
like a dove swooshed
from celestial eaves.
Hear my silent prayers
of penitence
as you tune the channels
from Trace, to E!
and probably, to me.
Like an iceberg
floating above the sea
I’ll hold stiffer than a carapace
until you turn the knob.
