John Findura

GOOD QUESTION

She is sitting in a diner in my hometown
planning our high school reunion
She is waiting for me to return

I have never left, I will tell her
But where have you been? she will say

That is a good question

I have been slowly building myself
committing quiet repairs that I don’t talk about

I have been having prophetic dreams of water

She will give me a list of old classmates who have died
I will not read it

The water will take everyone anyway
